Available for viewing by appointment only.
This 1967 Chevrolet Impala Convertible has been in the same family since the early 1970s, when the current owner’s grandfather purchased it from the original owner.
It remains remarkably intact, with its original numbers-matching 327ci V8, Turbo-Hydramatic 400 automatic transmission, and 2.73:1 12-bolt rear axle still in the car. The original Chevrolet Protect-O-Plate and period owner documentation are also included, giving this Impala unusually strong provenance.
Finished in factory Bolero Red with a black interior, the car was repainted in the 1970s and presents today as an honest, well-preserved driver rather than a restored show car. It is straight, starts readily, runs and drives well, and was recently inspected by a local classic and muscle-car shop. All major systems were checked, with no parts replacement or service work determined to be necessary at that time.
No trades. Serious buyers only. Open to reasonable offers.
The Impala was originally delivered to Glen S. of Sioux Center, Iowa and later purchased by the current owner’s grandfather in the early 1970s. It has remained in the family ever since.
Its original Protect-O-Plate documents the factory configuration as:
The engine, transmission, and rear axle presently in the car are numbers-matching to that documentation.
The odometer currently shows 28,174 miles; true mileage is unknown.
The original 327ci V8 is paired with the original TH400 automatic and original 12-bolt rear axle.
The car is a good starter, runner, and driver. It was recently taken to a local shop specializing in classic and muscle cars for a general mechanical review. Major systems were checked, and no repairs or parts replacement were recommended or completed.
The engine compartment remains largely unaltered and shows normal age, patina, dust, and surface oxidation rather than cosmetic restoration.
The car is equipped with power steering and power-assisted brakes. Windows and door locks are manual, and there is no air conditioning.
The car was repainted in the 1970s in single-stage Bolero Red.
The finish still presents well overall, with good gloss and a straight body. There are areas of touch-up paint and normal imperfections associated with an older repaint, all consistent with a car that has been preserved and used rather than freshly restored.
Chrome, trim, lenses, and exterior brightwork remain substantially intact and present well.
The black interior appears largely original and retains the character of an unrestored 1967 Impala.
The seats show age and wear, including separated seams. The rear seat has areas previously treated with black duct tape, which are visible in the photos.
The dashboard, steering wheel, door panels, trim, and overall cabin remain impressively complete.
The black power convertible top is present and functional, but it currently needs assistance while being raised. The motor operates, and with someone lifting the top during operation, it raises into position. Once up, it closes without assistance.
The current rear window is flexible clear material. A separate glass rear-window insert is included and could potentially be incorporated if the top is replaced or modified in the future.
The convertible top boot/cover is also included and is in good condition.
The following were checked and are operational:
The horn does not presently appear to operate.
What makes this Impala compelling is not a fresh restoration or a long list of modern upgrades. It is the continuity.
It has remained in one family for more than five decades. Its original documentation survives. Its original drivetrain is still in place. Its older repaint and interior wear tell the story of a car that has been maintained rather than repeatedly reinvented.
For someone looking for a genuine, well-documented full-size Chevrolet convertible that can be driven and enjoyed as-is, this is a very appealing example.
